Gustav Regler, German writer and journalist, former communist and critical observer of the Show trials in Moscow, emigrated to Mexiko.

According to his own autobiography (and Wikipedia): He later served as political commissar of the XII International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War.[2] Whilst in Spain he befriended Ernest Hemingway and was wounded at the Battle of Guadalajara.[3]

After the second WW, he spoke to Wolfgang Ritzel in Wilhemshaven, where they met on several occasions form 1954-1959.

After one special encounter Gustav Regler mentioned in his drafts /notebooks the name of the poetess Nelly Sachs and her french editor.

Nelly Sachs had escaped in Sweden, with some recommendations by Selma Lagerlöf and a royal prince...

Selma Lagerlöf, the Swedish noblest, who's german editor was - during his time - Gustav Pezold - and the Langen Müller publishing house, had to be defended by the latter against SS acussations after some negative remarks about die Third Reich policies.

Gustav Pezold was evicted in 1937 because of his „incapability of leading a german publishing house in the national-socialist ideology“ and, by doing so, failed to the nazi goals. and ambitions, which, as Gustav Pezold then said, were nothing else than ambitions of "antichambrierenden femininen weichherzigen und feinfühligen" (soft hearted) guys, which could refer to Siegfried Fath.
